The Bait-and-Switch Tennis Academy Scam

Don’t agree. Big name academies develop many professional players. Big name coaches do too. That’s why they have big names.

Also, why malign all those hardworking coaches at academies?

Aren’t they working hard in their trench like other coaches?

The real scam is the academy bait-and-switch: academies give scholarships and the best training and coaching to their top prospects—and then market their program at full price to everyone else for lower level coaching and training.

I think what you are trying to say is that there are independent coaches at smaller clubs who start out with many future pros and they don’t get any credit.

Those coaches deserve credit, but the academies who inherit them and guide them to the pros are developing them too.

It’s just a different type of development.

They both should receive credit.
