Medvedev’s Technique Could be Better

Compare Murray’s typical ATP Tour modern forehand swing path and finish with Medvedev’s.

Compare with Berrettini’s in the picture here.

Medvedev would get more rpm (spin) on his ball if his swing was more parabolic, he windshield-wiped more, and finished lower with more drift and inversion of the racquet at the ending.

Guaranteed he is getting a low average RPM speed on his forehand compared to other top players with big forehands because of this style.

Medvedev also has a large gap in his hand positions on the grip and dips his front shoulder more than is typical on ATP Tour on his solid—but very flat—two-handed backhand.

A good example of how a great athlete can overcome inferior or unusual or outdated technique.

He would be even better if he cleaned up these deficits and played with more rotation on the ball.
