Kyrgios has started a new trend in the pro game with underarm serving.
I am going to start teaching this shot to my junior players. It can come in handy, especially when the returner is playing very deep.
Basically it’s a drop shot. In my opinion, perfectly legitimate.
In addition, Kyrgios now faking the underarm serve and then blasting a power overarm serve—another ingenious variation.
I appreciate Kyrgios’ creative approach to the game even when I don’t always agree with his behavior.
