Remarkable video of Venus and Serena at 8 and 7 years of age.
Adorable girls with a caring dad.
The technique and overall skill of Venus at 8 was surprisingly poor. It’s incredible that she had enough athleticism to make it and was able to polish her technique to become a world champion— especially after such a poor footwork and technical foundation.
Her backhand was okay at 8, but her forehand was horrendous, as you can see in the video.
Both sister’s serves were certainly not prodigy material.
It goes to show you that skill development/acquirement at this age is not always a good predictor of talent and potential.
