Red, Orange, Green Myth #3

Red, Orange, Green

Myth #3:

ROG methods will increase rally lengths U10

Truth:

Probably true with young kids in red and orange ball.

However, in green ball, probably the best study done on the subject by Tennis Australia

http://www.tennisplayandstay.com/tennis-xpress/existing-research/green-vs-yellow-ball.aspx

showed minimal difference between yellow and green ball rally lengths in tournament players (yellow was longer actually), yet the study was still used to promote ROG as a “better” way for U10 players to develop their games.

Curiously, the ITF website also speciously concludes that “Players developed the necessary techniques faster than with a Yellow ball”, yet the research only monitored players in competition—not during training of skills.
