Medvedev Needs to Make Adjustments to Play on Clay

Posts and Publications by Chris Lewit

Daniil Medveded, Russian tennis player

Medvedev will perform better on clay with some forehand adjustments to play with more spin and whip. On hard courts, the forehand flat drive works better. But it’s generally not the type of heavy ball I’d like to see him generating. Heavy meaning MPH and RPM combined.

Take Thiem’s forehand for example. Much better model for clay court dominance, even though its silly the way his coach had him finish up high artificially during practice and warmups.

When he really starts to accelerate, that high finish disappears.
