The Myth of Online Coaching

Dear fellow coaches,

The recent proliferation of tennis coaches moving online to share knowledge and expertise has backfired.

There will be a coming shakeout in the years ahead.

Too many coaches are offering free expertise on YouTube and in other venues with the hope of translating likes or subscribers to some future paid offering.

In reality, we are simply creating a circular firing squad—undermining every coaches’ business.

Everyone is sharing for free and giving away their knowledge for free, undermining all paid programs and offerings—both online and offline.

If you have expertise to share, charge for it.

You deserve to be paid for it.

Don’t share your hard earned knowledge for free with the false hope that subscribers and likes will someday equal dollars.

The future of coaching is online, but not in the current model. More and more online coaches will be moving their content behind a paywall, where their hard earned knowledge should reside.

Please share your thoughts.
