Parents are the absolute best asset a coach has to develop a player.
Parents often bring a unique perspective from outside of the tennis world—whether they are scientists, doctors, lawyers, business leaders, professors, etc.
They often have a much higher education level than the typical tennis coach.
Parents also know their children much better than any coach does.
Parents have frequently driven the success of the greatest players of all time, from Monica Seles to the Williams sisters and many more.
But yet despite all these truths, there is a powerful anti-parent sentiment in the tennis coaching industry.
Coaches—take a dose of humility and realize that often you don’t know better than the parents. Stop “educating” them in such a sanctimonious way.
They can educate you more than the other way around.
