Future of Technical Training

In the future of athletic technical training, tennis players (and all athletes) will be evaluated by computer analysis that leverages an AI guided database of errors and corrections.

A mobile device could serve as the link to the AI interface.

It will be like having a world-class technical coach with you in the palm of your hand.

Coaches will still be needed to guide the player through stages of correction, but the role of the coach will change as technology improves.

In addition, most tennis courts will be smart enabled with camera and computer systems like next gen Playsight and Accutennis.

It will be quaint to play or train on a court that is not smart enabled.

The cost of these systems will continue to decline to make this possible.

With a smart court and an AI powered database, many players won’t need a coach at all.

The system will guide them without any coach necessary.

Some coaches may still be needed for recalcitrant cases and to help with motivation and guidance.

However, the future trends of automation and technology do not augur well for tennis coaches. In fact, these trends pose a threat to our jobs.
