Legendary Spanish coach Luis Bruguera says that little kids shouldn’t focus on the net too much when they are young.
His logic is simple and twofold:
1. Children are not very tall and don’t have a long reach, so the net is very hard to cover.
2. Young kids don’t have a lot of power shots or weapons, which are the ideal shots to approach after.
Therefore, he reasons that it’s better to wait until the player is bigger and stronger and has more weapons before advising them to attack the net.
