‘My student Emilio Sanchez always did his best patterns at the net, approaching with angled and crosscourt shots. The opponent only has two options: a pass down the line or a lob. And we knew that if the opponent bent his head he was going line, and if he lifted his head he was hitting a lob.’
Pato coached numerous top 50 ATP players and more recently developed Andy Murray and Grigor Dimitrov during their teenage years. He teaches at the Sanchez-Casal Academy.
